"The most powerful advocate a child with a disability will ever have is a parent who believes in them."

CUIDA Care Project

CUIDA: Confianza, Unidad, Inclusión, Derechos, y Aprendizaje
(Trust, Unity, Inclusion, Rights, and Learning)

CUIDA is a leadership and advocacy program for families of students with disabilities and language barriers. Grounded in care and community, CUIDA helps caregivers gain confidence, understand their rights, and become powerful partners in shaping inclusive, high-quality education.

We center cultural wisdom, lived experience, and community care to transform how families engage with schools and systems—from IEP meetings to policy change.

Through a series of easy-to-follow classes and support group sessions, we help families:

  • Navigate the special education system with confidence

  • Understand their rights and available services

  • Build skills to effectively collaborate with teachers and school staff

  • Access a supportive network of other parents and community resources

Our approach blends learning, peer connection, and hands-on practice, ensuring parents not only gain knowledge but also the confidence to use it in everyday school interactions.
